PEACE
WHAT IS PEACE?
DO YOU THINK YOU KNOW MUCH ABOUT PEACE?
DO NIGERIA
LEADERS KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT PEACE?
THEY SPEAK PEACE, THEY DON’T TEACH PEACE?
OH WHAT A PITY!!!
If I were asked concerning one area of
life of which the government should give priority to, I will say its peace.
Even the bible said “blessed are the peacemaker”. About two weeks ago I heard
some numbers of riot, war, bomb blast, exposure and killings. And it has eaten
down to the society and it is becoming more ramped making the life of humans
like that of a mosquito.
Peace is an act of being free from disturbance, a state or period in
which there is no war, an occurrence of harmony due to the absence of violence,
conflict behaviors.
The insecurity which is as a result of all
attacks and bomb blast by terrorist group has made an average citizen to have a
doubt about his country’s future. There is now a sense of fear in everybody that
somewhere or maybe at our place, there will be a nuclear attack and nothing
will be left out after massive destruction. I pity these people and look down
upon them as they do not even know the real purpose of creation.
I feel sad when I say that all these
terrorist must be given a taste of the fear which they have cause today in our
society at large, but what else can we do? When a disease is inflicted upon
one, there is need to take a bitter medicine or the diseases wouldn’t go.
However in our world today, especially in
Nigeria,
peace and harmony are facing various treats. Terrorism, religion imbalance,
economic disparity and social inequality are some of the factors that stand as
treat to the country today.
We all are so busy with our day to day
work and yet want our country to be in peace and harmony. We expect that peace
should be omnipresent but we need to realize that if we want peace, we have to
live peacefully, loving everyone. It is not enough to stand around asking if
peace will ever happen because that wouldn’t do anything. Action speaks loud
than words no wonder Emmanuel OC once made a statement “we speak peace, we
don’t teach and act like we know peace”. Changes will occur if we truly love
each other, but someone has to start his and it is you and I (including our
politicians). Mahatma Gandhi ones said “you must be the change you wish to see
in your world”.
Though the constituency of Nigeria
gives equal right to every citizen to ensure complete harmony among us. The government
alone cannot be responsible for maintaining peace and harmony. Each one of us
need to work hand in hand to take our responsibility towards her development.
